The regulations will initially only apply upon the granting of a new tenancy to a new or existing tenant. From 1st April 2020 ALL private rental properties must achieve an energy efficiency rating of E or above.
If you do not make the grade then you will need to obtain a Minimum Energy Standards Report. The MEES lets you see what improvements can be made. It may be that no improvements can be made. It could be that you need us to register your property for exemption. Exemptions last for 5 years.
